Peritoneal mesothelioma is also known as abdominal mesothelioma. It is a type of mesothelioma cancer that affects the abdominal lining. The peritoneal mesothelioma can occur due to one of the following reasons:
a) Inhalation and transportation of asbestos fibers the lymph node system to peritoneal cavity
b) When asbestos fibers are inhaled and reach the intestinal tract, these fibers find their way to reach the peritoneal cavity and peritoneum.
Pleural Mesothelioma
Pleural mesothelioma is the cancer that affects the lining of lungs. It is usually misinterpreted as the cancer of lungs or primary type of lung cancer. Mesothelioma is the cancer of serous membranes which surround a number of organs throughout the midsection of the human body.
It mainly affects the serous membranes of the lungs. It represents 75% of all mesothelioma cancer cases
